Roger found Leinie at Dorey Park!

Leinie spent some time at Dorey Park in July 2009. He wanted to pose by the old Dorey Farm structure for the Where’s Leinie? July 2009 challenge. The funny thing is, Follow Me Dog Training LLC held group classes at Dorey park throughout the month of June 2009, and none of the people that came to those group classes recognized the location. Leinie thinks he’s pretty clever.

The structure that Roger and Leinie are posing in front of is the old dairy barn for the Dorey Farm. In the early 1900’s the Dorey’s moved the family and their cows from Wisconsin to the milder climate of Virginia. This farm was a working dairy farm through the 1960’s and was eventually sold to Henrico County when the last male Dorey passed away. Henrico County turned the lands into park and the barn building was turned into a recreation center.

Congrats to Roger and his family for going on an adventure to Dorey Park and posing for a picture! Keep a look out for the August 2009  Where’s Leinie? picture!

Why Group Class?

Follow Me Dog Training LLC runs a group class for our clients that have completed at least three private lessons in the Successful Living program. Group class gives owner and dog the chance to be around other well mannered dogs from the Follow Me Dog Training LLC family. We work on a number of challenging exercises such as: confidence building, socialization, distance recalls with distraction, emergency sits and downs, games, walking with a pack of dogs and greeting exercises. Sometimes we work on things that are brand new to the dogs and owners and sometimes we work on things that may be a problem area for one or two of the dogs when they show up. One of the first questions asked when group class starts is “Is there anything specific that you all want to work on today?” So you can help dictate what we do in class, with Renée’s special twist to the learning process.

Group class is held regardless of the number of dogs that sign up. Sometimes we have 2 dogs, sometimes we have up to 10. All you have to do is give Follow Me Dog Training LLC a call and let us know you will be there.

The whole family is welcome, as they are during private lessons. The only thing we ask is that childeren are supervised and follow instructions about only greeting the dogs when told. We have some junior handlers that do a great job training their dogs!

Clyde update

I had to send you this. Who would have ever imagined that clyde would let another dog in our house and be his friend.

You are the best trainer EVER.

Elaine M.

I got a really cool email from a client the other day. Clyde is a 6 year old Hound dog that this family adopted. He was anti-social, grumpy, not really housebroken, would pull down an ox with his strength, had snapped at the vet and barked his fool head off at Leinie. His owners wrote a testimonial that is on the Follow Me Dog Training LLC website. I understand that Clyde is now a regular at doggy day care and has dog friends that stop by the house. I’m so proud of the work that Clyde has done to become a well balanced happy member of his family and community. I’m even prouder of his owners for following through with the training program I taught them and reaching a level of communication with Clyde that allows him to do anything and go everywhere with them.

Falcon knows his history & where Leinie was hanging in June

Where’s Leinie? June 2009 found Leinie checking out Richmond Virginia history. Leinie’s picture was taken at the Brook Hill Fortifications on Brook Road. These fortifications were designed as an early warning system for Confederate soliers. They were built to hold artillary and infantry men, to stop any sudden advancements of the Union Army into Richmondduring the Civil War. The stream, Brook Run, off Brook Road was the main artery from the north into Richmond.

Falcon found Leinie and although he wasn’t brave enough to hop up on the sign, he did a great job finding the location and posing!

A special shout out goes to Melvin for also finding the Brook Hill Fortifications.
